The Kirkland Arts Center Gallery was founded in 1962 by the Creative Arts League, a group of artists and citizens interested in providing local opportunities in the arts and concerned about the preservation of a Kirkland landmark, the Peter Kirk Building. For over 45 years, the KAC has owned and maintained this historic structure and transformed it into an exhibition gallery, community arts studio and education facility. They provide artists and art lovers of all ages the opportunity to work together, build creative skills, and broaden their knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the visual arts by offering classes, workshops, gallery exhibits and special events.

Designed by Becker Architects, the 402-seat maroon-and-beige theatre is spacious, yet retains an intimate feel. The farthest seat is just 13 rows - 40 feet - from the stage; the steep rake of the house provides excellent sightlines throughout the theatre. KPC hosts a wide range of arts disciplines, including classical music, jazz, modern dance, ballet, musical theatre, drama, comedy and more.

The IBT was founded in 2001 by artistic director, Vera Altunina, Ballet Master and choreographer from the State Conservatory in St. Petersburg, Russia. Houghton Beach Park

Located on Kirkland's Lake Washington waterfront, swimmers, sunbathers and fishermen alike enjoy the 75-foot dock. There's also a non-motorized boat launch for canoeing and kayaking, as well as a popular playground for kids and plenty of picnic tables from where you can see the Seattle skyline and the Olympic Mountains on a clear day. Juanita Bay Park

Interpretive tours of local wildlife are offered on a regular basis to explore these 110 acres of preserved wetlands and marshes, or you can come on your own. The park provides habitat for songbirds, waterfowl, raptors, shorebirds, amphibians, turtles, beavers and other small mammals. Experience extraordinary views of Forbes Creek Wetland, Juanita Beach and Juanita Bay. Open all year, dawn to dusk.
